Helix Series This body of work’s subject matter exposes the unseen core, the essential structure of skeletal or embryonic animal references. This work explores the dysfunction of systems to communicate with the whole body and the interrelated fluid parts that flow together. I have been wrapping gauges of copper and steel wire together while strengthening the materials with liquid starch, paper clay slip and epoxy. These contrasting materials investigate both opacity and transparency in the fluid forms. Mixed-media materials used are copper and steel wire, forged steel, paperclay, stain and fiberglass.
